About
Hello, I am glad you’re here! I have spent my career studying, practicing, and promoting authentic education, powered by metacognitive skills like reflection. My work in faculty development and instructional design is informed by my doctoral work on self-regulation. I have honed a unique style of research and practice by infusing relational wellbeing and reflective practice into rigorous curricula. My professional experiences have spanned higher education, nonprofit management, faculty development, and adult education. I have worked in a range of disciplines and educational settings with positive learning outcomes for stakeholders at all levels.
I received my B.A. from the University of Kentucky where I studied Psychology, with an emphasis on Developmental Psychology. After working and living abroad for some time, I returned to the States to pursue a graduate degree in Educational Psychology at The University of Georgia. During my graduate education I also completed a certificate in Nonprofit Management and a Certificate in Interdisciplinary University Teaching.
I have worked as a part-time university faculty member in Educational Psychology and Psychology. I have also worked as a one-on-one coach for educators and have designed workshops and year-long faculty development courses on authentic learning, self-regulation, and teaching practices to promote metacognition. I am the founder and former Executive Director of an educational nonprofit. Athens Forest Kindergarten promotes authentic, relationship-based learning, and prioritizes the reflective practice of educators.
Outside of work you can find me practicing mindful movement, aerial arts, fiber crafts, riding my bicycle, or building community with neighbors.
